October 3, 1994 Report Date: 9-28-94 <br /> AGENDA SESSION DATE <br /> DISPOSITION <br /> Item Description: Discussion Regarding 1995 Council/Staff Strategic Planning Session <br /> Administrator's Review/Recommendation: <br /> - No comments to supplement this report <br /> - Comments attached. <br /> Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.) <br /> SUMMARY; <br /> Tim Cruikshank and I have met with several consultants who specialize in <br /> strategic planning for public sector groups. We would like to have the top <br /> two consultants attend the November Work Session so that the Council can <br /> interview them to choose which one they would like to facilitate the 1995 <br /> Council/Staff Strategic Planning Session. <br /> It is important to hold the Strategic Planning Session in January in order <br /> to establish the 1995 Goal Plan and prepare for its subsequent publication <br /> in Mound View Matters. Therefore, the Council may wish to consider setting <br /> a date in .mid-late January for the 1995 Strategic Planning Session. <br /> Discussions after last year's Session centered on the belief that the <br /> Session could be only a one day session. Preparation for the one day <br /> session would mean that in early January, staff and Advisory Commissions <br /> would have completed their proposed 1995 Work Plans and submit them to <br /> Council for review prior to the Strategic Planning Session. The one day <br /> Session could include discussions on the following: <br /> 1. Review of action steps of the 1994 Goal Plan/FOCUS 2000 <br /> 2 . Update of 5 year Goal Plan/FOCUS 2000 Implementation Plan <br /> 3 . Establishment of 1995 Goal Plan and 1996 Budget Priorities <br /> 4 . Review of Staff and Commission Work Plans and Council direction <br /> regarding Work Plans <br /> Samantha Ord o, City Admin' strator <br /> R.ECOMMENDATIONt <br /> Staff is seeking Council direction in this matter. <br />
