REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION AgendaNumber:
Section: 8.B
=NE Report Number: 94-1330C
U Report Date: 10-6-94
STAFF REPORT
Council Action:
0 Special Order of Business
CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE October 10, 1994 0 Public Hearings
® Consent Agenda
0 Council Business
Item Description: Adopt Resolution No. 4637 Filing Recycling Intern Position
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
;
- No comments to supplement this report7 =k'9r2wSt:
Comments attached.
Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.)
SUMMARY;
When the City's Code Enforcement Officer/Recycling Coordinator departed in
April of this year, the Council responded to the needs of the community by
creating a Planning Associate position to do full-time code enforcement.
The other duties and responsibilities of that position, recycling, have
been largely assumed by staff members from the Community Development
Department, who have been performing the necessary functions of the program
to keep it operating. In order to fully resume these duties and
responsibilities, it is proposed an intern be hired. This would be a part-
time position, up to 19 hours per week, with no benefits.
The proposed 5 Step pay plan for this position would be:
STEP 1 STEP 2 STEP 3 STEP 4 STEP 5
$8/hr. $8.50/hr. $9/hr. $9 . 50/hr. $10/hr.
Funding for this position for the remainder of this year would come from
the 1994 recycling budget that was funded by a Ramsey County SCORE grant.
For 1995, the City expects to again receive SCORE funding from the County
which would be used for recycling programs and personnel costs.
If the Council approves this. position, it is proposed that an advertisement
be placed in Sunday's (10/16/94) newspaper. A draft of a job description
and job advertisement are attached for your review.
404411/41fik
Tim Cruikshank, Asst. To City Admin.
j3ECOMMENDATION;
Motion to waive reading and adopt Resolution No. 4637 filling the position
of Recycling Intern, funding to come from Ramsey County SCORE Grant
budgeted in 290-4121-010.
