PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br /> PARKS: <br /> * The Parks crew is slit seeding athletic fields this week. <br /> * Sunnyside School has requested 2 dump truck loads of compost for their gardens. The <br /> Parks crew will be delivering the compost to the school. <br /> * Groveland & Hillview Park building improvements continue. A meeting is set with the <br /> furnace people on Monday, November 14. <br /> RECREATION: <br /> * Sharie will be attending the Certified Festival Management Program, sponsored by the <br /> University of Minnesota on Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12. <br /> * Special event programming is being arranged for December activities. <br /> * Rink attendant applications are being requested through newspaper ads, college job <br /> announcements and letters to past employees. <br /> * We are working on winter programming - to be included in the next City Newsletter <br /> which will publicize January/February activities. The deadline is in the first part of <br /> December. <br /> * Sharie is working on a grant for the performing arts - arts in the parks for various events <br /> including Festival, Seniors Picnic, SMA event, etc. <br /> * I have begun work on a CDB grant that may enhance a housing/ neighborhood <br /> improvement grant that is being prepared by the Planning and Economic Development. <br /> GOLF COURSE: <br /> * The walk-through with the architect and builders was completed Monday morning, <br /> November 7. A punch list was made with plans for final inspection in approximately 2 <br /> weeks. <br /> * Grading, black dirt and sod was laid at the Clubhouse area beginning Monday. <br /> * Additional fencing will be installed as soon as possible to secure the entire course. <br />
