PUBLIC WORKS
* Staff has been working on the RFP for the Water Meter Changeout Program, and we are
very close to advertising it. It is possible the City of Arden Hills will be joining Mounds
View in this venture. Once again staff could be possibly entering into a joint cooperative
purchase with another community. Randommetertesting will-be conducted throughout
the City in the next couple of weeks, to compile a financial benefit analysis.
* The water tanker is rapidly being reassembled after it's makeover. With a new paint job
and stripes, new engine, and clutch, it looks very good. All of the staff involved deserves
a pat on the back. Wally and Larry have been flooding by hand, to provide a good base
of ice, in hopes that the rinks will be able to open on schedule.
* Staff met with SEH on Monday to discuss some treatment plant operational matters.
Check valves at the booster plant, wells 1 and 5 need replacement. They are the original
valves installed when the wells were constructed, and have worn out. In the case of well
5, the well has become inoperable during this repair.
* At the October 24, 1994 regular Council meeting, staff received Council approval to
purchase the 1995 backhoe, contingent upon the adoption of the 1995 budget, which had
funds appropriated for this purchase. Staff will place an order for this equipment in the
next week.
Mike
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
DYNEX EXPANSION
I met with Brian Sjoberg this week to discuss possible expansion plans for the Dynex facility
at 4751 Mustang Drive. Dynex has approached Tyson Trucking with a proposal to purchase
a portion of their property which is currently undeveloped. If successful, Dynex would like
to more than double their present facility by 1996. A number of development issues were
discussed including lot configuration, land use and wetland impacts.
