5 - YEAR PROJECTION FOR PERSONNEL NEEDS <br /> 1996 <br /> PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER: PARKS MAINTENANCE PROGRAM - 1996 <br /> An additional Parks Maintenance Worker is requested for parks <br /> maintenance services. Increased use of parks and increasingly <br /> high e-xpectat-ons-for park maintenance requires-additional hours---- <br /> of labor. This position would be funded through the general <br /> fund. At level I the position and benefits would be <br /> approximately $38, 000. <br /> ADDITIONAL HOURS TO THE JOINT POWERS FORESTRY CONTRACT FOR <br /> FORESTRY ACTIVITY AT THE BRIDGES GOLF COURSE: GOLF COURSE <br /> PROGRAM - 1996 <br /> Additional tree planting is necessary for the golf course. <br /> Buffer tree planting along Highway 118 to avert stray golf balls <br /> and tree planting for aesthetics along Fairways # 1 & 2 screening <br /> the trucking firms is in the plans of the golf course. With <br /> additional hours added on to the Joint Powers Forestry Contract, <br /> tree planting could be done in-house. In addition, landscaping <br /> plans and planting, tree trimming and disease control could be <br /> extended forestry services provided at the golf course. It is <br /> expected that the revenues of the golf course would fund this <br /> extra time. Add 100 days of labor at approximately $7 . 00 per <br /> :our or $5, 600 plus benefits totaling approximately' $6, 000. <br /> ADDITIONAL FORESTRY WORKER TIME TO THE JOINT POWERS CONTRACT: <br /> REFORESTATION & DISEASE CONTROL - 1997 <br /> There are many projects that would benefit from additional <br /> Forestry work including landscaping along the noise barrier at <br /> Long Lake Road and Hwy 118 , the Highway 10 Corridor landscaping <br /> project, City street and boulevard trimming (which is way behind <br /> in trimming due to lack of time and lack of money for contracting <br /> the work) . Grants are readily available, but lack of time <br /> r stricts projects. Contracted tree services for trim work <br /> :should be budgeted at approximately $2 , 000 each year or the <br /> additional of a seasonal forestry employee at approximately $7. 00 <br /> per hour for 100 days or $5, 600 plus benefits totaling <br /> approximately $6, 000.
