(May Cont) • Completed the second week long National Economic Development Professional Course on Economic Development Financing in Minneapolis. • Actively responded to two inquiries regarding commercial/industrial space in Mounds View. • Met with six local businesses, developers and financial consultants regarding City programs and economic development opportunities. This included the-first-meeting with Midwect N re.arding development and_tax increment assistance for the "Bridges Technology Center". • Developed, with the assistance of the EDC, and gained approval for 12 action steps in response to the North Metro Business Retention and Development Survey of Mounds View Businesses. • Attended five business forums/meeting including the Metro East Development Partnership Educational Forum, the Suburban Chamber of Commerce monthly board meeting, Partnership Minnesota Conference at the Humphry Institute, Anoka County Hotel Task Force meeting and the Suburban Chamber of Commerce Safe Cities Forum. • Met with Casserly Molzahn &Associates regarding the preparation of current and projected schedule of excess tax increment financing funds in the City of Mounds View. • Coordinated and held an informational meeting with local businesses, Irondale High School and Northeast Metro Technical College regarding participation in business\school apprenticeship program. • Worked with the Highway 10 Task Force to Cluster Highway 10 properties into proposed development areas. Tune: • Completed the summary of Part I of the North Metro Business Retention and Development Business Survey for review by the Economic Development Commission. • Gained approval from the EDA for a Business Loan Program to be called the Mounds View Business Improvement Partnership Program. In addition, gained approval for the first business loan for the expansion of Dynex Industries in Mounds View. • Actively responded to six inquiries regarding commercial/industrial space in Mounds View including a tour of space at Mounds View Business Park and property by the Bridges Golf Facility. • Attended four business forums/meetings including the Mounds View Area Business Association Meeting, Suburban Chamber of Commerce monthly board meeting, Metro East Development Partnership Economic Advisory Committee meeting and a seminar regarding economic development financing sponsored by Briggs and Morgan and Public Corp. • Met with one local business regarding City programs and economic development opportunities and coordinated a business reception at SYSCO to unveil the action steps in response to the results of the survey of Mounds View businesses. Approximately 20 Mounds View businesses participated in this reception. • Met with three mortgage companies regarding participation in MHFA's First Time Homebuyer/Rehab Program for single family homes in Mounds View. • Coordinated the production of Mounds View's Pride, Progress and Partnership T-shirts and sweatshirts with Garment Graphics. • Met with new New Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce President regarding joint projects. • Met with U of M School of Design regarding suburban housing design and corridor studies. • Met with a representative from Common Bond regarding coordinated marketing ideas and programs for Silver Lake Pointe Senior Apartments. • Researched the potential acquisition of several properties on Highway 10. • Met with Anoka County Chamber of Commerce President regarding joint participation in the attraction of a quality hotel/conference center in Mounds View.
