MINNESOTA <br /> BOARD OF GOVERNMENT INNOVATION AND COOPERATION <br /> Notice of Grant Availability <br /> The Minnesota Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation announces the availability of <br /> grants for local units of governments and affiliated organizations. Approximately $750,000 is <br /> available for three grant categories; the Board will jointly consider the applications in all three <br /> grant categories without initially allocating funds to each category. <br /> Eligible Applicants <br /> Counties, cities, school districts, towns, and special taxing districts; associations of local <br /> governments; the Metropolitan Council, organizations and state agencies with a local government <br /> partner; and organizations established by two or more local governments under a joint powers <br /> agreement. <br /> • Grant Criteria <br /> All applicants must indicate what other sources of funding have been considered to implement the <br /> project and explain why it is not possible to complete the project without State financial assistance. <br /> Preference will be given to applications that: <br /> • propose an innovative idea for a cooperative planning, service budget management model, <br /> or service sharing pilot project. An innovative idea includes an activity which has not been <br /> previously funded by the Board and is not already being done within the state; <br /> • focus on the improved delivery of an existing public service, as opposed to applications <br /> that focus on new services or service enhancements; and <br /> • anticipate improved public service outcomes, and which incorporate a realistic method for <br /> measuring those improved outcomes. <br /> Grant Categories <br /> Service Budget One or more applicants may apply for funds to develop a model for <br /> Management innovative service delivery. The model will identify a new means of <br /> Model providing a service currently being delivered by the applicants, utilizing <br /> Grants their existing financial resources and improving the quality of the <br /> service. Grants will not exceed $50,000. Grantees must agree to <br /> implement the model once it is developed. <br />
