SERVICE SHARING
GRANT APPLICATION
NARRATIVE E FORMAT
Prepare a narrative that explains your proposed project. Use the following outline and be sure that
your narrative addresses the indicated issues. The narrative should not exceed eight pages.
A. Proposed Project
Describe in detail your proposed project to implement a fully integrated service or
program:How are you-currently-providing-the-service-0Tlsrogram?what are you
proposing to do differently? To what problems or opportunities are you responding?
Estimate how much each applicant is currently spending on the delivery of the service or
program, if any. Will this entire amount be available for implementing the integrated
service or program?
Are you aware of any current or past attempt to develop or implement an integrated service
or program that is similar to your proposal? If so, describe that attempt and its outcome,
and explain how your proposal will be different from that attempt.
B. Benefit
Expand on the information you provided in your pre-application regarding the benefits of
your proposed project. What positive outcomes do you expect to achieve by integrating
your service or program? How will you measure those outcomes? Be as specific as
possible when describing the improved service outcomes and the methodology you will use
to measure the improvement in the outcomes.
Do you expect cost savings to result from your proposal? If so, what is your best estimate
of annual savings? Explain how you calculated your estimate; do not include one-time only
start-up costs in determining the cost of providing the fully integrated service or program.
(While it may be difficult to make such an estimate, you should note that you will not
receive any points for a cost/benefit ratio if you do not.)
C. Work Product
Describe in detail the work product that you intend to develop during your project. A work
product must be a tangible narrative or other output that can be shared with another unit of
government that may want to replicate the project. How will the work product be useful
to other local governments interested in replicating your project?
