4
0 .RovED
k
 1
Page 9
September 26, 1995
1 Jim Jorissen, 8368 Knollwood Drive, stated he appreciates that some of the
2 council members are willing to listen to what the residents have to say. He
3 concurs with what Mr. Novak had to say. He does not feel that engineering
4 studies should determine what will happen in the city's neighborhoods. He
5 asked if it is possible to get a copy of the feasibility study if his street is
6 proposed to be redone.
7
8 Mayor Linke stated he can get a copy if and when his street is done. All of
9 this in#ormation would be presented at a public hearing on the project when
10 and if his street were to be completed.
11
12 Ms. Trude stated in order to give residents a choice, she would suggest that
13 the eight paragraph be changed to read "WHEREAS, the majority of the
14 affected properties within the entire project may elect to reconstruct the street
15 "at 28 feet" (rather than "wider'). . . as this would make it clearer that the people
16 do have the ability to affect the outcome and it doesn't depend upon
17 circumstances that have to be proven.
18
19 Ms. Hankner stated this was done in the fourth paragraph.
20
21 Dave Janke, 8420 Eastwood Road asked why council is trying to change the
22 standard road width when so many residents at the June meetings stated they
23 wanted to leave them at the width they are. A comment was made that the
24 decision would be left up to the residents. Suddenly, the council has the final
25 say.
26
27 Mayor Linke stated residents do have a say in the matter. An example of this
28 would be Pleasantview. They made the decision to go with a 38 foot wide
29 roadway. At the June meeting, a majority of the residents who attended were
30 under a misconception of their street width. He went back and checked and
31 Eastwood Drive is 30 feet wide now.
32
33 Mr. Janke stated he has measured in four different areas on the roadway and
34 in no place did he measure 30 feet from Long Lake Road to the third block
35 down on Eastwood.
36
37 Mayor Linke stated he believes a minimum of 28 feet is what should be
38 established, especially if residents want to be able park on the streets.
39
40 Mr. Janke stated he does not see anything wrong with a 28 foot street. He
41 hopes that the Council will table their decision on this matter and think about it
42 for a while. So many residents expressed their opinions and he feels the
43 Council is being inconsiderate of them.
