* October 5th is the Fall Operators Seminar. The majority of our public works
will be attending.
* The Streets Department finished patching.
* It has been "business as usual" around here, nothing major.
Tracy
d ANTS(
DEVELOPMENT
MEETING WITH BUSINESS OWNERS
Cathy Bennett and I will be hosting a lunch meeting tomorrow with Mounds View
business owners to discuss the update to the Sign Ordinance. We decided to host
the luncheon to allow input on the wants, needs and desires of the business
community as it relates to advertising and signage. We sent out approximately 150
invitations and received 11 responses. The business community cannot accuse us of
not involving them in the process.
CRIME FREE HOUSING
Jennifer attended a seminar hosted by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association
dealing with programs to reduce crime in multi-family housing (including
manufactured home parks). The program includes three phases; Property manager
training; Property assessment for security; and, Tenant involvement. These seminars
will be offered on a continuous basis and we hope to implement some of their ideas
in Mounds View.
MFHA FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS PROGRAM
We received word this week that out of the $262,000 awarded to the City of Mounds
View under the MFHA Program, over $240,000 has been committed to families for
mortgages. The City will still be able to provide one additional loan with the
remaining money. This indicates that there are people out there willing to use the
programs if they are made available.
Paul
