This affected wholesalers and manufacturers followed by TCPU firms. <br /> These firms were also the most likely to suggests a need for better distribution. Firms with sales <br /> between $1-5 million were most likely to put a high priority on such improvements, with overall <br /> interest growing in general as sales and employee size increases. <br /> Transportation <br /> Roads were viewed as important by 84 percent of all firms surveyed. Variations between <br /> clusters, sectors, cites, size of firms etc. are relatively minor. Ten percent of all businesses <br /> express some level of dissatisfaction with current roads, most frequently in Blaine. <br /> Ten percent express dissatisfaction with postal services. <br /> Thirteen percent of all firms felt a relocation of the airport would have a negative impact on their <br /> business. TCPU, manufacturing and wholesaling firms were the most likely to express concerns <br /> that an airport relocation would be negative. Larger firms tended to see the relocation as more <br /> negative. Base builders were clearly more concerned. <br /> Thirty-eight percent of all firms thought that additional river crossings would be beneficial to <br /> their firms. This was most noted in Brooklyn Park, and less so in New Hope and Mounds View <br /> which are further from the river. <br /> Seven percent of all firms use local airports for business purposes. Manufacturing, <br /> wholesale/distribution, and professional services films were the most frequent users of the local <br /> airports. While larger firms were the most likely to use the airports, smaller firms were <br /> numerically more likely. <br /> Overall twenty percent felt a light rail system would have a positive impact on their business. <br /> Brooklyn Center firms were more likely than others to think so. FIRE,professional services and <br /> TCPU firms were the most likely to expect a positive impact. Larger companies were also more <br /> likely to feel so. <br /> Overall 29 percent felt better mass transit would be positive for their business. Brooklyn Center <br /> firms were the most positive. Professional services, FIRE and retail lead in the desire for better <br /> mass transit. Large firms were particularly strong in their support for better mass transit. <br /> 13 <br />
