Agenda Section: 12.E
aiillq Ifl REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Report Number: 95-1723 C
r REPORT Council
Date: 1-17-95_
VV?,f Council Action:
❑ Special Order of Business
CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE January 23 , 1995 ❑ Public Hearings
U Consent Agenda
kJ Council Business
Item Description:
Consideration of Wellhead Maintenance Bids
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
- No comments to supplement this report
- Comments attached.
Explanation/Summary(attach supplement sheets as necessary_.)
SUMMARY:
Several years ago staff developed a preventative maintenance plan for the
repair and maintenance of the City' s water system. It was determined
through past history and the acceptable industry standard that wells should
be pulled for inspection and maintenance every seven (7) years or 33 , 000
hours . The City has adhered to this schedule to the best of it' s ability
in the past .
Due to the treatment plant revisions at wells 5 and 6 , staff was unable to
perform maintenance of any of the remaining wells during this period. The
wells scheduled for maintenance were necessary for production. Wells 5 &
6 returned to service late in 1994, and are now in operation. Anticipating
this situation, staff requested that the funds designated for wellhead
maintenance in 1994 , be transferred to the 1995 budget, enabling staff to
perform maintenance of. two wells . This request was approved at the
December 12th, 1994 , regular Council meeting.
Staff advertised for bids of this project, and opened bids on January 11,
1995 . The following are the results of that opening:
CONTRACTOR AMOUNT BID
Thein Well Co. $45, 729 . 50
• Keys Well Drilling $45 , 960 . 00
•
•
Bergerson-Caswell $46, 502 . 00
•
Alberg Water Services $50, 987 . 90
Traut Wells $55 , 528 . 05
E.H.
