As it did with the original franchise, the <br /> Cable Commission is taking the lead role in the renewal process and will assume <br /> responsibility for negotiations with the cable company. However, even though the <br /> company has requested the use of the informal renewal process, the Cable <br /> Commission's intent is to solicit the views and recommendations of all interested <br /> individuals and institutions in the member cities. <br /> Further, the member city councils will be kept apprised of the process <br /> through regular reports, meetings with the city managers and administrators and <br /> meetings with the city councils themselves. Ultimately, the city councils must <br /> Arden Hills <br /> approve the individual franchises. <br /> Falcon Heights <br /> Lauderdale At its January meeting, the Cable Commission appointed a Negotiating <br /> Little Canada Committee. The members are: Jerry Wallin, Falcon Heights; Jim Johnston, North <br /> Mounds View Oaks; Pat Johnson, Roseville; and Cassandra Holmstrom, Shoreview. I think we <br /> New Brighton have a good representation of the member cities, large and small, north and south. <br /> North Oaks The first meeting of this committee has been scheduled for February 2. At that time <br /> Roseville we will begin to develop a strategy and to establish the negotiation parameters. <br /> St.Anthony <br /> Shoreview As you know, a number of issues will affect our negotiating strategy <br /> this time around. They include: <br /> 1. Rapidly changing technology. Communications technology is changing at an <br /> increasingly fast rate, much faster than we can hope to keep up.
