These steps will include <br /> providing any additional training needed by city staff; actually establishing services such as <br /> Web, Gopher, or distribution services; and an on-going emphasis on development of detailed <br /> development and installation notes. These notes are important because they will provide the <br /> basis for later information sharing with other local governments. <br /> It is expected that development and installation will involve: <br /> Establishing electronic mail accounts for city staff and elected officials, <br /> Preparing World Wide Web pages and Gopher menus which will allow easy access to <br /> government information. <br /> Selecting a software package to convert documents created by a word processing <br /> package to a form usable on World Wide Web, <br /> Converting city documents, <br /> Establishing a number of listservs to distribute city information such as council <br /> minutes and training city staff to manage the listservs, <br /> Establishing at least one forum for discussion of local government issues, and <br /> Conducting a public opening for and providing a demonstration for other local <br /> governments throughout Minnesota. <br /> Evaluation <br /> And finally, a thorough evaluation of the projects implemented in each of the three cities <br /> will be conducted.
