A PMP will
provide a means of forecasting maintenance and reconstruction schedules and
funding necessary to perform these activities . This. system can provide
equally rational and fair means of maintaining the City' s road system.
After all roads have been rated, a degree of maintenance and methods will
be assigned to each ranking. Adoption of this program will provide staff
and residents, information and guidance in maintaining the City' s streets .
Council might recall that staff had requested, and received authorization
to purchase a program last year. Due to the unanticipated duration of the
fall projects, the rating of the streets was postponed until the spring of
1995 . This delay prompted staff not to purchase a system, and approach
Council with a request for purchase in 1995 . Since the original
authorization, SEH has changed programs . They have purchased the rights to
a nationally known and ranked PMP. This program is capable of producing
expanded reports and projections, and is more subjective and detailed in
it' s rating.
Per Council direction, staff has received a quote from SEH for the purchase
of a PMP, and associated training for $14 , 350, :(includes first year' s
maintenance agreement, updates, and support) . The quote received from Braun
Intertech was for $15, 350 .
Funding for this purchase may be received from the Silver Lake Woods Fund.
This fund supplies revenue for pavement maintenance, which this program
directly affects .
Staff seeks Council direction in this matter.
Michael Ulrich, Director of Public Works
Il ECOMM N[JA`I1ON:
