Business\School Apprenticeship Program: <br />• The City hosted an informational meeting regarding Apprenticeship programs <br />with Irondale High School and Northeast Metro Technical College on May 11th. <br />Five businesses attended out of the 12 that were invited. The meeting was <br />very successful and the businesses were impressed with the program. All of <br />the participants are interested in pursuing the idea. Jan Quick and Connie <br />Bohns will continue to work with these companies and try to match them up <br />with students. I will continue to field calls regarding the program and provide <br />assistance as needed. <br />Marketing Task Force: <br />• The Marketing Task Force will have a booth at the Festival in the Park to <br />educate the community on the marketing plan and sell the new image <br />statement. We would like to sell T-Shirts with Pride, Progress and Partnerships <br />and will also have a game for the kids. <br />Mounds View Area Business Association Meeting: <br />• Samantha and I attended the Mounds View Area Business Association Meeting <br />on June 1, 1995. The luncheon featured a representative from Handwriting <br />Research Corporation (HRC). HRC performs personality analysis based on <br />handwriting. They claim 97% accuracy in identifying major weaknesses in <br />ones social, emotional, motivational and mental traits. This procedure can be <br />beneficial to businesses in relation to hiring practices, promotional <br />considerations, organizational requirements and team -building activities. There <br />were approximately 20 attendees at the luncheon. <br />Cathy <br />PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br />PARKS: <br />* Graffiti was removed from Lambert Park building. Sandblasting equipment was <br />borrowed from the City of New Brighton for this project. The paint came off <br />with unexpected ease. It is thought that the paint used was a type of hobby <br />paint versus typical acrylic spray paint. <br />During the week of May 19 the parks crew performed selective mowing which <br />means that priority mowing was done because of lack of time and personnel. <br />Seasonal parks workers are available according to their school schedules, many <br />completing final testing or attending last classes before finals.
