recovery. Russ is a great worker and "jack of all trades". Golf Course
Superintendent Mike Mueller and golf course worker Chad will be scampering
about keeping up without Russ. A retired gentleman who has golf course
maintenance experience, Norm, will be filling in as needed. It isn't uncommon
to see Brus on a mower or ball picker either. Everyone pitches in to get the job
done! What a crew!
* Repairs and additions to the boardwalk will be approximately $10,000 including
the handrails. The boardwalk settled more that expected and additional posts
will be required. Bridgco is working on the project now.
* The grass is growing. However, grass growth is about 3 weeks behind
because oflackof warm temperatures - 80's is what is preferred.
Veit Construction Co. showed up unexpectedly Wednesday, May 31 thinking
that they would maneuver their huge equipment over the turf to do creek
cleaning as per Rice Creek Watershed's requirements. (They had all winter
long to do this, which would have been the time when the course would not be
adversely affected). Of course staff said "Absolutely not" and did not let them
take their "tanks" off the flatbeds. After having a two hour standoff Veit Co.
finally decided that they would come back later and clean the ditch by hand
labor. Good decision on their part!!
* Most of the trees made it through the winter. A few did not and they will be
replaced. Large pine trees will be planted along the east side of the parking lot
to screen "Pomp's Tire Service". Rick Wriskey has arranged this project. Rick
will also install landscaping around the Clubhouse. Landscaping will also be
added at the entry sign and along the path to the Clubhouse. Flower boxes will
also be added.
Mary S.
* On Wednesday, at approx. 1 1:40am, we had a purse snatching. An
older lady was walking in the vicinity of Pinewood School. A male
party came up behind her and grabbed her purse. The suspect(mid 20's)
fled on foot to a waiting car. Contents of victim's purse were found
on Raymond Ave. and Co.Rd. H2. Still missing are keys,$2 cash, and the
purse. This is the first crime of this nature, that we can remember.
