Consideration of Water Shut Off Policy <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Don Brager, Finance Director, presented the Formal <br /> 30 Introduction of Ordinance No. 551 Relating to the Procedure for <br /> 31 Shutting Off Water Service for Delinquent Accounts and Amending <br /> 32 Title 900, Chapter 906, Sections 906. 11 and 906. 13 of the Mounds <br /> 33 View City Code and Consideration of Resolution No. 4692 Outlining <br /> 34 Collection Policy for Delinquent Utility Bills. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 The new collection policy for delinquent water service bills <br /> 37 would eliminate sending notices by certified mail. The customer <br /> 38 would be allowed 30 days after the bill is mailed before a reminder <br /> 39 notice would be sent. The reminder notice would ask the customer <br /> 40 to pay within 10 days or service would be discontinued. The new <br /> 41 policy provides that anyone with a delinquent water service bill <br /> 42 would have the right to come before the City Council and present <br /> 43 evidence as to why their service should not be discontinued. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Brager summarized the changes in the new collection policy <br /> 46 which include the elimination of one request for payment which <br /> 47 would have been sent under the previous policy.
