Does Mounds View have an identity? <br /> 2. Can others identify with Mounds View? <br /> 3. What do people like about Mounds View? <br /> 4. What would people like changed about Mounds View? <br /> Task force members asked these questions to a variety of individuals including: <br /> • Mounds View residents, non-residents, employees working in Mounds View that don't live in <br /> Mounds View and friends/relatives/business associates not associated with Mounds View. <br /> Through these interviews, the task force was able to identify Mounds View's opportunities and our <br /> challenges as it pertains to people's image of the City. <br /> Opportunities <br /> • Access to freeways <br /> • Access to semi-skilled workforce <br /> • Average household incomes <br /> • Good entertainment facilities <br /> • Great police protection <br /> • Location to good shopping facilities and work <br /> • Neighborhood parks and recreation programs <br /> • Nice,large,wooded residential lots <br /> • Politically aware residents <br /> • Pro-business attitude <br /> • Quality schools <br /> • Quiet and friendly people <br /> • Relatively close to downtown yet not too close to the Cities <br /> • Safe and affordable housing opportunities <br /> • Small town community feeling,prideful community,clean neighborhoods <br /> • Streets well maintained <br /> Challenges <br /> • Lack of an identity <br /> City of Mounds View gets mixed up with City of Mound <br /> Mounds Views association is the town next to Fridley/New Brighton/Blaine or Mounds <br /> View High School <br /> No unique establishment that people can identify with <br /> • Deteriorating apartment quality <br /> • High taxes <br /> • Lack of landscaping along Highway 10 <br /> • Residents have difficulty with some City ordinances <br /> • Simply a place to drive through to get somewhere else <br /> • There is no clear definition of the boundaries of Mounds View <br /> 2 <br />
