CSU?OF
nINDS
Public Works
2466 Bronson Drive • Mounds View, Minnesota 55112
Telephone: (612)784-3114 • Fax: (612) 784-0548
March 29, 1995
Nis . Joan Sandidge
7816 Bona Road
Mounds View, MN. 55112
Subject : Water Service Repair
Dear Ms . Sandidge :
On Monday, March 27, the Public Works Department was notified by a
resident of a possible water main break in front of 7800 Bona Road.
In the afternoon staff confirmed that water was indeed seeping out
of the ground at that location. Locations were requested for the
excavation of the area, and residents affected by the disruption of
water service were notified that the water would be turned off at
8 : 00 am on March 28 , 1995 .
Prior to excavating, it was noted that there was a residential
service located in the area, and it was possible that the service
was leaking. At approximately 8 : 30 am on March 28 , staff began the
excavation to repair the possible water main break. When the Public
Works employees uncovered the water main, they discovered that the
service was leaking, and the water main was not broken.
The service that was leaking was identified, by location and
asbuilts, as belonging to 7817 Bona Road. When conditions exist
that clearly indicate a residential service is leaking, the City
does not perform the repair. This repair is the responsibility of
the homeowner. In this instance, there was not enough evidence
indicating which pipe could have been leaking or broken. In these
circumstances the Public Works Department will perform the repair,
and in the event that the residential service is leaking, the
homeowner is responsible for paying the City for the work
performed, and any restoration resulting from the repair. I have
itemized the repair costs to date, they are as follows :
Labor 42 hours $ 739 . 02
18 hours $ 494 . 85
Total Labor $1, 233 . 87
PRINTED WITH • .
SOY INK.. w
recycled paper
