February: • Worked with Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development to complete Part I of an Economic Recovery Grant for a local Mounds View Business. Prepared EDC and EDA resolutions of support and solicited letter from Ramsey County Commissioner in support of the City's application for the company. • Collected and summarized results of the Hotel\Conference Center Survey for review by the Economic Development Commission. • Prepared a summary of the Business Retention Survey responses in relation to signs for review by the Economic Development Commission. Information was passed along to the Planning Commission for consideration in revising the sign ordinance. • Completed site selection survey for company regarding NorthStar Light Industrial-Property. • Prepared EDA resolution approving Highway 10 Vision Statement. • Completed the first week long National Economic Development Professional Course on Economic Development Financing in Minneapolis. • Actively responded to 7 inquiries regarding commercial/industrial space in Mounds View. • Attended the Metro East Development Partnership Educational Forum on "Working with the Media". • Prepared Business Loan Program concept at the recommendation of the Economic Development Commission for approval by the EDA per resolution. • Prepared and mailed notice to Mounds View businesses regarding meeting with County Commissioner to discuss delay of realignment of Old Highway 8. Prepared and mailed EDC resolution urging Ramsey County to keep realignment of Old Highway 8 scheduled for 1996. March: • Completed Marketing Program for the City of Mounds View in conjunction with the Marketing Task Force. • Completed the summary of Part I of the North Metro Business Retention and Development Business Survey for review by the Economic Development Commission. • Set guidelines for business retention meetings with Economic Development Commission members, targeting companies on list of target industries and those that were not surveyed through 1994 retention process. • Prepared resolution in support of target industries for future development and attraction of businesses in the City of Mounds View • Worked with Western Bank and City of Mounds View Development Attorney regarding participation agreements, application and resolution to support the use of excess tax increment financing for the business loan program. • Met with Casserly Molzahn &Associates regarding the preparation of current and projected schedule of excess tax increment financing funds in the City of Mounds View. • Mailed letter to local businesses regarding participation in business\school pilot program and met with Irondale Career Counselor and North East Metro Technical Program Coordinator to discuss implementation of an apprenticeship program with Mounds View businesses. • Actively responded to 2 inquiries regarding commercial/industrial space in Mounds View. • Completed physical inventory of parcels on Highway 10 to be reviewed by Highway 10 Subcommittee. • Monitored Tax Increment Financing Legislation, attended three hearings regarding proposed legislation and prepared and distributed an informational document regarding the City of Mounds View's use of Tax Increment Financing. • Participated in retention call to a local Mounds View business who is looking for new facility space. Offered the facilitation of assistance with financing, training, site selection and utility rate reductions. • Collected and reviewed downtown and main corridor redevelopment plans to be reviewed by Highway 10 Subcommittee from the following Cities- Apple Valley, New Brighton, Columbia Heights, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, and Hopkins. • Attended three business forums/meetings including LMC Legislative Review forum, Suburban Chamber of Commerce general membership luncheon and Metro East Development Partnership Economic Advisory Committee meeting.
