As a result of this law, communities
like Mounds View were eligible to apply for federal grant monies to hire
additional police officers .
The City of Mounds View applied for and was awarded a COPS FAST
grant. This grant provides for a maximum federal contribution of 75% of 1
the salary and benefits of each officer hired. The grant is for a period
of three years with a cap of $75, 000 per officer. The federal share
decreases from year to year.
The COP FAST grant and the hiring process was discussed at the
April 3rd Council work session. Attached is Resolution No.4744 for
Council consideration. This resolution authorizes the Police Civil
Service Commission to begin the hiring process .
)40(
Ti Ramache '"q:dice Chief
RECOMMENDATION;
