Fund
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
- No comments to supplement this repo•
- Comments attached.
Explanation/Summar-y-(attach_supplement_sheits as necessary_.) _
,SUMMARY;
Police Chief Ramacher has inquired about the possibility of establishing a separate fund for donations
received from various organizations for the DARE program. After discussing the matter with him I am
in agreement that it would be appropriate to establish a separate fund for donations received for the
program. A separate fund would segregate the DARE donations received from General Fund revenues,
thus allowing easier monitoring of the donations received. Expenditures of donated funds would be
segregated from other expenditures of the Police Department. This would make it more efficient to
monitor expenditures of donations to ensure that they were spent for the proper item(s). For example,
donations have been received for the purchase of a vehicle for the DARE Officer. It is staff s
responsibility to document that those donations, were, in fact, spent for the purchase of the vehicle.
Staff recommends that a DARE Fund be established to account for donations received for the conduct
of the DARE Program. Expenditures would be used for the training of personnel to conduct the
program, and equipment and materials and supplies related to the program. Resolution No. 4648, A
Resolution Establishing A DARE Fund, is attached for your consideration.
Donald Brager, Finance i j rector
RECOMMENDATION;
