In Department of Public Health
Division of Solid Waste
Zack Hansen,Manager
1910 West County Road B,#206 Tel:612-292-7900
RAMSEYCOUNIY Roseville,MN 55113 Fax:612-633-0571
January 28, 1994
Samantha Orduno, Administrator
City of Mounds View
2401 Highway 10
Mounds View, MN 55112
Dear Ms. Orduno:
I am writing to follow up on our conversation earlier this week
regarding the County yard waste site located in the City' s Ardan Park.
It is my understanding that the City is asking the County to consider
relocating the site from Ardan Park, because of illegal dumping in the
area (unrelated to the site) and because several neighbors have
complained about odor. You indicated that the City is pleased with the
service of the site, but prefers another location. You suggested one
site near the proposed City golf course. I explained that the County,
in considering this issue, would examine the alternate sites that may
be available, the costs associated with moving the site, and whether
we would relocate the site or close it.
During the conversation we discussed surveying residents through the
City newsletter to gauge their interest in the site. We have drafted a
survey that could be used for this purpose, and have enclosed it. Note
that it is in a postcard format, and that the Division of Solid Waste
will pay for printing of the card and postage if this format is used.
This should assure a good return rate. Please contact me at your
convenience if you want to use the postcard survey. We will also be
willing to tabulate the results .
Based on the City' s request, we are reviewing issues related to moving
the site, including evaluating alternate sites and beginning to
identify costs . Some of my staff will be contacting City staff about
potential sites in the near future.
I will keep in touch with you as this proceeds . In the meantime,
please contact me at 292-7904 if you would like to discuss this .
Sincerely,
Z Ha sen
Division Manager
cc: Commissioner Dick Wedell
Patrick Harris
Terry Schutten
Rob Fulton
Fawzi Awad
Minnesota's First Home Rule County
printed on recycled paper with a minimum of 10%post-consumer content
