As the Council representative to the Northwest Youth&Family Services Board of
Directors I wish to recommend the passage of the attached resolution. This resolution supports
the Northwest Youth&Family Services grant request for County CDBG funds to assist in the
purchase of a permanent facility, at Lexington Ave. and Co. Rd. E,the League of Minn. Cities
building. Northwest Youth&Family Services serves 10 northwest suburbs and 3 school districts
and provides support programs for every age group in our population. My personal philosophy is
that prevention of social problems is cheaper than the consequences of not dealing with social
problems and issues. A central facility that meets the needs of the communities served will
enhance the programs Northwest Youth&Family Services offers our city and school district.
The joint venture between Mounds View and its neighboring communities through this program
again offers our-city an oppurtunity to provide services we could not otherwise afford alone.
