Tim C., Tim R. and I met this week with the Police bargaining unit representatives regarding the 1994 contract. Agreement could not be reached and the union has requested mediation. If agreement cannot be reached in!mediation, the next step will be binding arbitration. Tim C., Mike U. and I also met this week with the Public Works bargaining unit members. They are still considering the City's response to their contract proposals. Reminder next Wednesday the Ramsey County League of Local Governments will be meeting at Mounds View for their monthly meeting. The topic is a legislative preview. Time is 7:30 p.m. Plans have-been finalized for the Council/Staff Strategic Planning Session. We will once again be at the Radisson in Plymouth. Michele negotiated a deal which represents a $0 increase from last year's costs. Great job Michele!! Next week, Tim C. and I will be having a luncheon meeting with Sharie Timmons of Paster Enterprises to discuss how the City can assist them in leasing up the vacant space in Mounds View Square. Don Poss, Don Busch, Ron Fagerstrom and I will be meeting next week to revise language in the proposed Fire Contract. Plans are progressing well for the Appreciation Dinner. Remember the date: Friday, March 18. Samantha CITY HALL EXPANSION UPDATE The downstairs bathroom and the old office supply storage area have been the recent targets of construction activity. The new bathroom is being added downstairs and fixed cabinets are being installed in the old office supply storage area. Also the new Police squad room has seen a significant make-over. Next week will see the ceiling completed, including electrical and duct work, and carpet being put in the Park and Recreation and Administration area. Work will also continue in the Police squad room. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR AND HOUSING INTERN To date (2/10), we have received 20 applications for the EDC position and 14 applications for the Housing Intern position. After a quick glance at the applications received, it appears there are several well qualified candidates. The deadline for both positions is the end of the day on Monday, February 14, 1994.
