<br />Item No: 7E <br />Meeting Date: January 25, 2010 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review : ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Thomas Kinney, Deputy Police Chief <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7567 Approving the Hire of Greggory Neumann <br />as a Police Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />An opening within the Police Department was created with the resignation of an officer <br />effective October 26, 2009. The City Council discussed the position on November 9, 2009, <br />and approved Resolution 7520 authorizing action to hire a new officer to fill the vacancy. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />The Police Civil Service Commission has certified an active eligibility list for the position of <br />Police Officer based on previously conducted testing components, which included written <br />testing and interviews. The top three candidates on the list are as follows: <br />1. Greggory Neumann <br />2. Miles Kensler <br />3. Eric Turnipseed <br /> <br />The top candidate, Greggory Neumann, has successfully completed all of the required <br />testing procedures, which included a physical agility test, written exam, background <br />examination, physical examination and a psychological examination. Staff has personally <br />met with and interviewed Mr. Neumann and feels he would be an excellent addition to the <br />department. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends City Council approval of Resolution 7567, a resolution authorizing the <br />hire of Greggory Neumann to the position of Police Officer at Step 1 of the compensation <br />schedule in accordance with the Law Enforcement Labor Services Contract, which governs <br />the compensation for this position effective on February 1st, 2010. <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br /> <br />__________________ <br />Thomas Kinney <br />Deputy Police Chief <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
