Item No: 8B Meeting Date: Feb 22, 2010 Type of Business: Consent Administrator Review : ____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: James Ericson, Clerk - Administrator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7582, Authorizing Support of the Mounds View Community Theatre (MVCT) Consistent with the City's Policy in Support of Artistic Organizations Introduction: In 2003, the City of Mounds View adopted a policy in support of artistic organizations, consistent with MN Statues 471.941. The policy has been used to support the Mounds View Community Theatre over the years through the use of the City’s copy machine. Diane Wouri, Operations Chair of MVCT, submitted a letter dated Jan 25, 2010 again requesting the City’s support through the use of the City’s copy machine. Discussion: After the City Council adopted the attached “Policy For The Support Of Artistic Organizations,” it subsequently by resolution approved specific support for the Mounds View Community Theatre. Since 2003, MVCT has made an annual request to use the City’s copy machine consistent with the original authorization. MVCT supplies their own paper and schedules a time to use the machine to minimize disruption or inconvenience to staff. Seven years have passed since the original approval thus staff is requesting the City Council consider reaffirming its support of MVCT. Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of Resolution 7582, a resolution reaffirming support to the Mounds View Community Theatre consistent with the City’s Policy For The Support Of Artistic Organizations and MN Statutes.
