Mounds View City Council April 12, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />property and liability insurance by $9,100 and an offsetting increase in workers compensation by 1 <br />$11,800 due to a higher experience modifier. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Mayor Flaherty commented on the increase in workers compensation due to incidents over the 4 <br />last three years, noting it will go down considerably next year, if accident free. Finance Director 5 <br />Beer stated that is correct and reviewed the vehicle accident that had occurred that was not the 6 <br />fault of the City’s employee. He advised that the League, every 6 years, pays an appraiser to 7 <br />review the City’s buildings and equipment to determine the appropriate value. From the City’s 8 <br />standpoint, it is not underinsured, and if values are lowered it will save the City premium dollars. 9 <br /> 10 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7604, 11 <br />Authorizing Insurance Policies for the Year January 2010 through December 2010. 12 <br /> 13 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 14 <br /> 15 <br />9. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS 16 <br /> 17 <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. Council Member 18 <br />Mueller requested additional information on the park building window that was replaced. 19 <br /> 20 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Stigney. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as Presented. 21 <br /> 22 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 23 <br /> 24 <br />10. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 25 <br />A. March 8, 2010, City Council Meeting Minutes. 26 <br /> 27 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn. To Approve the March 8, 2010, City Council Meeting 28 <br />Minutes as corrected on Page 3, Line 24, to change the word “ceduce” to “reduce.” 29 <br /> 30 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 31 <br /> 32 <br />11. REPORTS 33 <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Council Member Mueller reported on the car show held at Robert’s on Sunday and advised the 36 <br />car shows will be on-going through the summertime. She indicated the Festival in the Park flyer 37 <br />is posted on the City’s website and will be distributed at local car shows. A special feature for 38 <br />the Festival in the Park is that NHRA driver Martin Schmidt will bring his alcohol fueled 39 <br />dragster to the car show. Council Member Mueller noted the food shelf is accepting food and 40 <br />cash donations and encouraged residents to keep this in mind during the summer months. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Council Member Mueller extended her congratulations to Austin Prange who achieved the Eagle 43 <br />rank of Boy Scouts. She stated that Austin Prang is a senior at Irondale High School and 44 <br />planning to attend Mankato University to major in mechanical engineering. 45
