Mounds View City Council June 14, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />B. 7:10 pm Public Hearing, Resolution 7625, a Resolution to Consider an On 2 <br />Sale Intoxicating Liquor License Renewal for Robert’s Sports Bar and 3 <br />Entertainment located at 2400 County Road H2. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Assistant Clerk-Administrator Crane stated that this item is in accordance with Chapter 502 of 6 <br />the Mounds View City Code, a public hearing is required for all liquor license renewals. 7 <br />Robert’s Sports Bar and Entertainment has not submitted the city liquor license application 8 <br />materials and the applicable fees. Application materials and fees were due to the City on June 4, 9 <br />2010. Staff has sent numerous certified mailed letters to the business, and the owner has not 10 <br />responded with his intentions on renewing this business license. Assistant Clerk-Administrator 11 <br />Crane recommended the Council open the Public Hearing for public comments and postpone this 12 <br />item to the next City Council meeting on Monday, June 28, 2010. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Flaherty opened the public hearing at 8:20 p.m. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Gunn questioned how the City would respond if no response was received from 17 <br />Robert’s. Assistant Clerk-Administrator Crane stated the license would be revoked and a new 18 <br />license approval process would have to be sought. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the certified letters were confusing in any way and could have 21 <br />led the owner to believe there was a code compliance issue. Clerk-Administrator Ericson stated 22 <br />he spoke with Mr. Halverson today and he was aware of the requirements. He said he had 23 <br />reminded Mr. Halverson the liquor application was necessary or the license would lapse. A drop 24 <br />dead date was set within the certified letters of June 15th. Clerk-Administrator Ericson stated 25 <br />staff could stop by the establishment to assure the owner fully understands the timeliness of the 26 <br />approval process. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Council Member Mueller questioned if liquor licenses were transferrable, if a business were to 29 <br />sell to a new owner. Assistant Clerk Administrator Crane stated the license was nontransferable; 30 <br />a new owner would be responsible for going through the license process to try to get a liquor 31 <br />license. 32 <br /> 33 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Hull.
