Mounds View City Council June 28, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting Page 10 <br /> <br />Mayor Flaherty reopened the public hearing at 9:20 p.m. 1 <br /> 2 <br />Hearing no public input, Mayor Flaherty closed the public hearing at 9:20 p.m. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated she would be willing to give the applicant an additional 30 5 <br />days to assure that all fire violations are corrected. This would give them until July 30th to 6 <br />comply with all City and State fire codes. 7 <br /> 8 <br />City Administrator Ericson stated the applicant was fine with the outstanding fees being certified 9 <br />to the property taxes. He questioned how the Council wanted to handle the statement within the 10 <br />resolution stating “full payment of property taxes.” 11 <br /> 12 <br />City Attorney Riggs suggested the Resolution read, “full payment of applicable property taxes 13 <br />and Sewer Availability Charges.” If the SAC fees were not paid these would be certified to the 14 <br />property taxes by the City. 15 <br /> 16 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7626, 17 <br />approving an On Sale Intoxicating Liquor License Renewal for The Mermaid located at 2200 18 <br />County Highway 10 contingent upon a satisfactory fire inspection by July 30, 2010 and full 19 <br />payment of applicable property taxes and Sewer Availability Charges. 20 <br /> 21 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mayor Flaherty stated the Council was willing to work with its businesses and residents to 24 <br />resolve issues and keep operations viable. However, certain rules have to be followed and the 25 <br />Council will hold these businesses accountable to assure they are in compliance. He was proud 26 <br />of the Council for taking the time to review each case at length and in detail. 27 <br /> 28 <br />E. Resolution 7635, Ratifying the Mounds View Election Judges for the 2010 29 <br />Primary and General Elections. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane stated that State law requires that election judges for the 32 <br />Primary and General Elections be appointed by the municipal governing body. Resolution 7635 33 <br />contains a finalized list of election judges for the 2010 Primary Election (August 10, 2010), and 34 <br />the General Election (November 2, 2010). The City currently has trained over 60 judges for the 35 <br />Primary Election and General Election. Staff recommends Council approve the appointment of 36 <br />election judges for the 2010 Primary and General Election. 37 <br /> 38 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7635, 39 <br />ratifying the Appointment of Election Judges for the 2010 Primary and General Elections. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Council Member Gunn thanked all those willing to serve and participate in the election process. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Mayor Flaherty agreed with these comments and thanked the residents serving the community in 44 <br />the upcoming elections. 45
