Administrator Report
November 22, 2010
Page 2

4. December Work Session

After the Truth in Taxation meeting at 6:00 pm on Monday, December 6th, the Council will
hold its last work session of the year. The only items on the agenda presently for
discussion include the following:

• Review Candidates for Committee and Commission Openings

• Discuss Possible Changes to the B-2 Zoning District

• Review 2011 Budget

• Delivery of the Mounds View Matters

Was there anything else the Council would like to discuss?

5. December Time Off

Desaree and I will be taking some time off in December, although we’ve coordinated our
schedules such that one of us will always be here. The days I will be out of the office are
December 17th, 20th, 23rd and the week of December 27th.

6. Mounds View Alum in the News

I think most of you were already aware that former Economic Development Coordinator
Aaron Backman took a similar position in the City of Ramsey working with Kurt Ulrich. I
think most of you also know that former Mounds View administrator Chuck Whiting and
former Mounds View mayor Dan Coughlin had applied for and were finalists for the Forest
Lake city administrator position. (North Oaks administrator Melinda Coleman, whom Ken
Roberts and I had both worked with, was also a finalist.) Chuck Whiting apparently
dropped out of the contention for the Forest Lake job after accepting a similar position for
the City of Faribault. He’ll start there on January 1. The Forest Lake position went to Dan
Coughlin, who had been working as the city administrator in the small community of
Richmond, Minnesota. Dan is anticipated to begin his employment in Forest Lake before
the end of the year. Congratulations to all three City of Mounds View Alums!

________________________
Jim Ericson
City Administrator
