Mounds View City Council December 1, 2008
Truth-in-Taxation Meeting Page 2

1
Finance Director Beer noted that the projected State budget deficit could impact the City’s 2
budget in that local government aid may be cut for 2009. 3
4
Gary Shores of 5079 Eastwood Road said that he understands there will not be any increase on 5
the $100 per year for streets. He then asked if the City is going to work on the streets or wait 6
until it is in the levy. 7
8
Finance Director Beer indicated that the project is planned for 2009 and Council will be acting to 9
authorize plans and specifications at the December 22, 2008 meeting. 10
11
Jim Battin of Laport Drive asked about the assessed value of property because the value dropped 12
approximately 5% but he has heard that the actual decrease is 15 to 20%. He then asked if the 13
City has any input on valuation or if the County makes the determination. 14
15
Council explained that the County does set the valuation. 16
17
Finance Director Beer indicated that this hearing could be continued to December 8, 2008, if 18
needed.
