Presentation by Senator Betzold and Representative Tillberry to discuss the 35 <br />2009 State legislative session with the City Council. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Senator Betzold and Representative Tillberry addressed the Council and updated them on the 38 <br />2009 State legislative session. They advised of the projected $4.8 billion deficit by June 30, 39 <br />2011 and issues being faced to balance the budget, as required by the State’s Constitution. He 40 <br />stated the Senate has a duty to balance the budget and welcomes the City’s input. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Representative Tillberry stated many did not see this large deficit coming but several years ago, a 43 <br />conference with economists had believed, based on the demographics of Minnesota, it may be 8 44 <br />to 10 years out.
