February 23, 2009 Item No. 7B
Page 3
2009-2010 Street and Utility Improvement Project
Cost for Silver Lake Woods Improvements
Item Amount
Part 3 – Street Construction $191,485.70
Part 4 – Utility Construction ___8,038.20
Total Estimated Construction Cost $199,523.90
Max. Project Cost Per Agreement $415,000.00
It must be noted that the amount of $199,523.90 shown in the table is for
construction only. Costs for legal, engineering, and other activities will need to
be added to the construction cost to determine the total amount of the
improvements for Silver Lake Woods. Those costs are not yet finalized, as work
continues on the documentation for the easements necessary for the
construction of infiltration basins along Lake Court Drive and Lake Court Circle.
The Street Transfer Agreement identified a maximum cost of $415,000 for the
Silver Lake Woods improvements, including construction and all else. Based on
the low bid construction cost of $199,523.00, there is more than 100% allowance
below the maximum amount stated in the Agreement. Therefore Staff feels
comfortable that the actual total project cost will be within the amount stated in
the Agreement.
Project Schedule:
If the City Council wishes to proceed with the project, the upcoming milestones
are shown below:
February 23, 2009 City Council Awards Construction Contract
Early March, 2008 Construction Contracts Executed
March 19, 2008 Neighborhood Preconstruction Meeting Held
April 2008 Detailed Preconstruction Meeting with Contractor
May 2009 Construction Begins
The Neighborhood Preconstruction Meeting is scheduled for the evening of
Thursday, March 19, 2009. Notices for the meeting will be mailed out the week
of March 2nd. The Contractor will have a representative at the Neighborhood
Meeting and will also review their proposed phasing for the construction.
