Item No. 07D <br />Type of Business: PH&CD <br />Meeting Date: June 8, 2009 <br />City Administrator Review: ______ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Clerk- Administrator <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Public Hearing, Resolution 7457, a Resolution to <br />Consider an On-Sale Wine and 3.2 Malt Liquor License <br />for Taiko Sushi Bar located at 2394 Highway 10 in <br />Mounds View <br /> <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 502.08 and 503.08 of the Mounds View City Code, a public <br />hearing is required for all liquor license renewals. <br /> <br />502.08: LICENSE HEARING: <br /> <br />No issuance of a new license, transfer of an existing license, renewal of an existing <br />license, issuance of temporary special event or banquet licenses, or special <br />outdoor consumption endorsements for the sale of intoxicating liquor on-sale or off- <br />sale, club, Sunday sales or on-sale wine shall be hereafter granted by the Council <br />until a public hearing has been conducted by the Council after published notice in <br />the official newspaper at least ten (10) days in advance of the hearing. <br /> <br />Pro Association, Inc., (dba Taiko Sushi Bar) has not submitted the city liquor license <br />application materials and the applicable fees. The owner of Taiko Sushi Bar did leave a <br />voice mail message to Staff on Friday, May 29, 2009, and stated that he would have <br />the materials for Staff by Monday, June 1, 2009. Staff contacted the owner directly by <br />phone the morning of June 1st, to reconfirm his intentions. The owner stated to Staff <br />that he would have the materials and payment no later that the morning of June 2nd. As <br />of Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., no applications materials were submitted. <br /> <br />The notice of this public hearing was sent out to residences within a 350 feet radius, <br />and the Notice of Public Hearing was published in the City’s official newspaper. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends opening the Public Hearing for Public Comment, and postpone this <br />item to the next City Council Meeting on Monday, June 22, 2009.
