Item No: 7A <br />Meeting Date: July 27, 2009 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review: _____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Chief of Police, Mike Sommer <br />Item Title/Subject: Approval to Kenneth Koss as Police Officer <br />Date of Report: July 27, 2009 <br /> <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City Council has approved the hiring of a Police Officer for a current vacancy in the <br />Police Department. The Police Civil Service Commission has certified an active eligibility <br />list for the position based on previously conducted testing components, which included <br />written testing, and interviews. The top three candidates on the list are as follows: <br /> <br />1. Kenneth Koss <br />2. Travis Minke <br />3. Greggory Neumann <br /> <br />The #1 candidate in standing on the eligibility list, Kenneth Koss, has successfully <br />completed all of the required testing procedures, which included written testing, <br />background examination, physical examination, psychological examination and physical <br />agility testing. <br /> <br />Staff have personally met and interviewed Mr. Koss and recommends he be hired to the <br />position. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff seeks council approval to proceed with appointing Kenneth Koss to the Position of <br />Police Officer at the step one rate of pay for the position ($3,587.47 per month) in <br />accordance with the Law Enforcement Labor Services Contract, which governs the <br />compensation for this position.
