Item No: 8F Meeting Date: September 14, 2009 Type of Business: Consent Administrator Review : ____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: James Ericson, Clerk - Administrator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7499, a Resolution Appointing Representatives to the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) Anoka County Blaine Airport Advisory Commission Introduction: The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) established an airport advisory commission to provide a mechanism for communities and their residents to interact with MAC and to act as a liaison between the Anoka County / Blaine airport and the surrounding municipalities. Discussion: David Jahnke and Barbara Haake were appointed to serve on the Airport Advisory Commission by the City Council on January 9, 2006. Both individuals were reappointed in 2008. Due to the unfortunate passing of Mr. Jahnke, the City Council needs to make another appointment and, at the same time, the Council may choose to re-appoint Ms. Haake to another two-year term on the Commission, commencing January 1, 2010. Staff contacted Ms. Haake who expressed a strong desire to remain on the Commission. In a discussion with the City Council at its meeting on August 24, 2009, the Council suggested that its preference would be to appoint the Clerk-Administrator to serve on the Commission with Ms. Haake. Recommendation: Approve Resolution 7499 which appoints Jim Ericson, Mounds View Clerk-Administrator, to serve the balance of Mr. Jahnke’s term on the Commission and the subsequent two-year term beginning on January 1, 2010 and re-appoints Barbara Haake to serve another two- year term on the Anoka County / Blaine Airport Advisory Commission, to represent the City of Mounds View.
