Mounds View City Council November 26, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />Interim Administrator Ericson indicated that Staff would update the Minutes and Agendas but 1 <br />Resolutions would be too difficult to post to the website. He then explained that the Resolutions 2 <br />are available for review in the public book at City Hall. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Mr. Batton indicated that he thinks the Council should approve a citizen commission to provide 5 <br />input on the street projects and keep an eye on progress. 6 <br /> 7 <br />6. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUISNESS 8 <br /> 9 <br /> A. Appreciation Ceremony for the Streets and Utilities Task Force 10 <br /> 11 <br />Mayor Marty read the Certificate of Appreciation and then the names of all members of the 12 <br />Streets and Utilities Task Force. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Marty thanked the members of the Task Force for their efforts to put forth a plan that will 15 <br />save the City and its taxpayers millions of dollars in the long run over the previous policy. 16 <br /> 17 <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS 18 <br /> 19 <br /> A. Public Hearing for the Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance 785, a 20 <br /> Tree Preservation & Landscaping Ordinance 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Marty opened the public hearing at 7:24 p.m. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Planner Heller indicated that Staff and the Planning Commission has run through several drafts 25 <br />of this proposed Tree Preservation Ordinance. Planner Heller reviewed the proposed Ordinance 26 <br />requirements with Council. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Hearing no public comments, Mayor Marty closed the public hearing at 7:28 p.m. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Council Member Flaherty indicated that he was pleased with the limited restrictions to property 31 <br />owners. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Mayor Marty indicated that he has been trying to get a tree ordinance on the books for years. 34 <br />Mayor Marty indicated that he is pleased with the changes to the Ordinance to eliminate 35 <br />restrictions and fines for property owners but noted that the Ordinance allows the City to enforce 36 <br />the Ordinance when trees are removed illegally. 37 <br /> 38 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Stigney. To Waive the Reading and Introduce Ordinance 785, a 39 <br />Tree Preservation & Landscaping Ordinance. 40 <br /> 41 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 42 <br /> 43
