PUBLIC INPUT 29 <br /> 30 <br />Jim Batten 2332 Laporte said that he watched the work session last week and he has questions 31 <br />about the sound wall. He then asked why it could not be done as requested and why it has to be 32 <br />just extended. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Mayor Marty explained that, legally, Mn/DOT has to extend the wall from where it ends and 35 <br />cannot “piece meal” the wall. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Mr. Batten asked what happens with the sound wall capabilities when the height is lowered from 38 <br />20 feet to 15 feet. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Public Works Director Lee explained that 20 feet is not the standard height, and Mn/DOT bases 41 <br />the height on the specific situation. Director Lee explained that Mn/DOT bases the height 42 <br />requirement on the ability of the wall to reduce the noise level to acceptable levels. The daytime 43 <br />decibel reading was approximately 65. 44 <br /> 45
