Item No: 07C <br />Meeting Date: May 27, 2008 <br /> Type of Business: CB <br />City Administrator Review: ______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Clerk-Administrator <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7275 Approving a Permit Application for Merrick, <br />Inc., a Charitable Organization to conduct Charitable <br />Gambling at Robert’s Sports Bar and Entertainment located <br />in the City of Mounds View <br /> <br /> <br />Merrick, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization is requesting to renew their <br />charitable gambling permit at Robert’s Sports Bar and Entertainment located at <br />2400 County Road H2. Merrick, Inc., has been holding charitable gambling at <br />Robert’s Sport’s Bar and Entertainment since May of 2004. <br /> <br />Merrick, Inc., is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, licensed by <br />DHS as a Day Training & Habilitation (DT&H) and Supported Employment <br />Services (SES) provider. The focus of their program is to provide employment <br />services to adults with a developmental disability. <br /> <br />Merrick, Inc.’s offices are currently located in Vadnais Heights. They have been in <br />existence since 1964, and have 30 active members, which meets the requirements <br />of the Mounds View City Code. A list of current member is on file with the City. <br /> <br />The Gambling Control Board requires that the local unit of government (city or <br />county), pass a resolution specifically approving or denying the Premises Permit <br />Application. This resolution (approving or denying the application) must be voted <br />on and the resolution forwarded to the Minnesota Gambling Control Board. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of Premise Permit to permit Charitable Gambling for <br />Merrick, Inc., at the location stated above.
