<br /> <br />Item No: 07E <br />Meeting Date: July 28, 2008 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />City Administrator Review: _____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Jim Ericson, Clerk-Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7303 Approving Step Increase for Don <br />Burda, Full Time Temporary Building Inspector <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Don Burda was hired as the City’s temporary building inspector on May 26, 2006. The <br />position was created to assist the building official during the Medtronic planning, <br />development, construction and ensuing inspections. Originally planned as a two-year <br />position, the Medtronic workload carried over into 2008 as did the follow up from the non- <br />Medtronic permits. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />Building official Kathi Osmonson has reviewed Mr. Burda’s performance relating to his <br />responsibilities as outlined in the building inspector job description and determined that Mr. <br />Burda has satisfactorily performed in the capacity of his position, and therefore, a step <br />increase wage adjustment is warranted, consistent with the Personnel Manual and Union <br />Labor Agreements. <br /> <br />The City Council has indicated a desire to discuss the duration of this position and such a <br />discussion has been added to the August 4th Council worksession agenda. The discussion <br />however is a separate matter which should not affect the action on the step increase. Staff <br />should have brought forward the step increase in May, however due to the temporary <br />nature of Mr. Burda’s employment, the anniversary date was overlooked. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 7303, approving the Step Increase for Don <br />Burda from Step 3 to Step 4, retroactive to May 24, 2008. <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Jim Ericson <br />Clerk-Administrator <br /> <br />
