Oath of Office – James Ericson – City Clerk/Administrator 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mayor Marty administered the Oath of Office to James Ericson, City Clerk/Administrator. 6 <br /> 7 <br />B. Proclamation – May 8, 2008 Arbor Day 8 <br /> 9 <br />Mayor Marty read the Proclamation proclaiming May 8, 2008 Arbor Day. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Mayor Marty indicated he is proud to say that Mounds View has had the distinction of being a 12 <br />Tree City USA. 13 <br /> 14 <br /> C. Resolution 7268, A Resolution of Appreciation to Edward J. Lance, SBM 15 <br /> Fire Department 16 <br /> 17 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Mueller. To Approve Resolution 7268, A Resolution of 18 <br />Appreciation to Edward J. Lance, SBM Fire Department. 19 <br /> 20 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor M arty read Resolution 7268. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Mayor Marty pointed out that Mr. Lance was the Citizen of the Year last year. 25 <br /> 26 <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS 27 <br /> 28 <br /> A. Consideration of Resolution 7264 Adopting Special Assessments for 29 <br /> Delinquent False Alarm Fees and Abatement Charges. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Mayor Marty opened the public hearing at 7:17 p.m. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Finance Director Beer explained that this hearing is to receive comments regarding assessments 34 <br />for abatement charges, diseased tree removal or false alarm fees. The property owners had until 35 <br />4:30 p.m. today to pay the full amount to avoid interest and the $35 fee. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Hearing no public comment, Mayor Marty closed the public hearing at 7:19 p.m. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Finance Director Beer explained that the reason Staff is doing this now, is that with so many 40 <br />foreclosures, Staff wants to ensure that any potential new owners would be aware of any 41 <br />potential assessments. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Mayor Marty noted that six of these are for nuisance abatement. 44 <br /> 45
