Mounds View City Council July 28, 2008 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Stigney asked whether the internal investigation has been completed. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Assistant Clerk Administrator Crane indicated that this is not an internal investigation but it is 4 <br />practice to have another agency research the circumstances surrounding the situation. 5 <br /> 6 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 7 <br /> 8 <br /> E. Resolution 7303, Authorizing a Step Increase for Don Burda, Full Time 9 <br /> Temporary Building Inspector. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Clerk Administrator Ericson noted that a step increase is due to Mr. Burda as he has been rated 12 <br />satisfactory by his supervisor. The end date for this position will be discussed at the work 13 <br />session. Staff recommends approval of the step increase as this is a separate issue. 14 <br /> 15 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7303, a 16 <br />Step Increase for Don Burda, Full Time Temporary Building Inspector. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that this was brought up May 28th and we are at the end of 19 <br />July already. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Council Member Mueller clarified that the project this person was hired for has run its course 22 <br />and that is why the position would be eliminated, this has nothing to do with the individual or 23 <br />any performance issues. 24 <br /> 25 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 26 <br /> 27 <br /> F. Resolution 7306, Approving the Purchase of Two Replacement Police Squad 28 <br /> Cars 29 <br /> 30 <br />Chief Sommer noted that this Resolution will replace the two squad cars totaled in a collision. 31 <br />Both officers are back to work with no restrictions. The funding to replace the cars is included in 32 <br />the report. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Council Member Stigney said that the insurance company rated the value of the squads was only 35 <br />$28,298. He then asked for the individual values. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that the 2005 vehicle had a lower value but he does not have the 38 <br />separate values with him. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Stigney asked whether the salvage value has been considered and whether the 41 <br />vehicles should be kept for parts. He then said that there is not much of a value coming back for 42 <br />giving the vehicles away. He further said he would like someone to look at what may be of value 43 <br />with the vehicles. 44 <br /> 45
