Item No: 8B <br />Meeting Date: October 13, 2008 <br />Type of Business: Consent <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: James Ericson, Clerk - Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7345 In Support of the Northwest Youth and <br />Family Services Discovery Center Project <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Northwest Youth and Family Services (NYFS) is planning an expansion of their facility <br />by adding on space that has been identified as the “Discovery Center.” The Discover <br />Center will be a 10,000 square foot multi-purpose facility focused on wellness and <br />physical activity, addressing critical local issues of school success, mental health, family <br />and community connection, and obesity prevention. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />At the City Council’s October 6, 2008 work session meeting, Kay Andrews, NYFS <br />Director, and Jerry Hromatka, NYFS Associate Director, provided an update regarding <br />services that NYFS provides and described their plans for the Discovery Center. <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Andrews and Mr. Hromatka asked the Council to show its support for the expansion <br />by adopting the attached resolution.
