Assists in routine inspections of commercial, public assembly, <br /> industrial buildings, and multiple dwellings; issues corrective <br /> orders and performs follow-up inspections and/or citations. <br /> Reviews building plans for Code criteria. <br /> Reviews sign plans for Code compliance. <br /> Utilizes computer programs for code/zoning compliance review and <br /> scheduling. <br /> Work with local businessmen to develop improvement plans for <br /> properties. <br /> Assists with evaluation and design of updates and revisions of <br /> ordinances. <br /> Works with City Departments as necessary. <br /> PERIPHERAL DUTIES <br /> May serve as a staff liaison to City Commissions or employee <br /> committees. <br /> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Education and Experience: <br /> (A) Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university <br /> with a degree in Planning or related field; <br /> (B) One year experience related to inspection, building <br /> inspection, land use, public administration or a related <br /> field; <br /> (C) Must possess valid state drivers license. <br /> DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS <br /> (A) Municipal Experience; <br /> (B) Experience using Wordperfect and Dbase. <br /> Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: <br /> (A) Some knowledge of code enforcement principles, practices <br /> and methods as applicable to a municipal setting; working knowledge <br /> of applicable laws, standards and regulations relating to various <br /> land use, nuisance and public safety codes; working knowledge of <br /> inspection techniques; <br /> (B) Skill in operating the listed tools and equipment; <br /> (C) Ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection field <br /> data, reports and systems; Ability to analyze complex situations, <br /> problems and data, and use sound judgment in drawing conclusions <br /> and making decisions; Ability to comprehend and articulate complex <br /> facts and relationships in detail and to summarize and write <br /> clearly, concisely and legibly, and to testify in court in an <br />
