1995 PROGRAM/PERFORMANCE BUDGET <br /> DIVISION STREETS PROGRAM SNOW AND ICE CONTROL <br /> FUNDING SOURCE GENERAL <br /> PROGRAM PURPOSE <br /> Provide efficient and effective snow removal and ice control on municipal streets. <br /> PROGRAM SUMMARY <br /> The division will utilize two dump trucks and one loader equipped with plows and wings to remove snow and <br /> apply the icing chemicals to the City streets. A skidloader mounted blower and tractor mounted broom are <br /> used to maintain sidewalks and pathways. The icing chemicals are applied at intersections, hills, and curves. <br /> Computerized sander controls are requested for 1995 to increase sanding proficiency and accuracy. This <br /> program is General Fund supported. <br /> 1995 PROGRAM QBJECTIVES <br /> The commencement of operations will begin at the accumulation of two inches of snow. Factors, including <br /> time of day, snow forecast, staff availability, and road conditions, may be considered as to whether full or <br /> partial operations will proceed. A goal of this program is to plow all streets, curb to curb, after a normal (2 <br /> to 6 inches) snow fall within 10 hours, a major winter storm within 24 hours. <br /> 1995 PROGRAM PERFORMANCE MEASURES <br /> 1. Provide bare pavement at intersections, hills, and curves. <br /> 2. Plow all roads full width and bench snow banks when additional snow storage is necessary. <br /> 3. Remove snow from all sidewalks and pathways within 8 hours following a snow storm. <br />
