Agenda Section: 10.
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
Report Number: 94-1147WS
STAFF REPORT
AGENDA SESSION DATE May 2, 1994 Report Date: 4-28-94
DISPOSITION
Item Description: Discussion Regarding Updating Administrative Offense Structure
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
- No comments to supplement this report
- Comments attached.
Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.)
UMMARY;
Resolution No. 1907 (attached) which governs the hearing officer process
for Administrative Code violations is outdated in terms of current staffing
positions and the type of violations that staff members may address as
hearing officers. Since the City's approach to nuisance violations will
undoubtedly be intensified, it is imperative that the structure for
hearings be modified to allow for the appropriate personnel to serve as
hearing officers.
It is suggested that primary hearing officers for nuisance code violations
as well as any violations other than traffic/parking, animals, and others
listed in the attached resolution as under the Police Chief's jurisdiction
include the Assistant to the City Administrator and all department heads.
Samant a Orduno, City Administrator
RECOMMENDATION:
