Memorandum <br /> To: Samantha Orduno, City Administrator <br /> From: Cathy Bennett, Economic Development Coordinator <br /> Date: April 27, 1994 <br /> Subject Funds to support economic development and marketing programs for 1994. <br /> The attached document outlines the goals which were addressed in both the strategic planning <br /> session and Focus 2000 report for economic development and marketing. The work plan <br /> identifies the actions steps proposed for implementation to begin economic development and <br /> marketing programs. The purpose of the programs are to increase the positive awareness of the <br /> City, stimulate business growth and diversification, and expand funding mechanisms to support <br /> and sustain quality job opportunities for Mounds View residents. <br /> I have reviewed the costs to implement the beginning stages of both economic development and <br /> marketing programs. The following is an outline of the funds needed to support these action <br /> steps for 1994. <br /> • Goal 1: No additional funds <br /> • Goal 2: $12,500 for the retention program conducted by North Metro Business Retention <br /> and Development Commission - Community Partners Program and administered by myself <br /> The program will be discussed in detail at the Council Work Session on May 2nd. Also <br /> included in the program is the development and production of a general package to be used <br /> by the City for retention purposes at a cost of$250. <br /> • Goal 3. $500 for the production of a glossy development package to be used for prospective <br /> investment opportunities in Mounds View and for prospect development. <br /> • Goal 4 $100 for research materials on redevelopment guidelines and the implementation of <br /> effective redevelopment program. <br /> • Goal 5 $100 for research materials and seminars on the programs available for housing <br /> rehabilitation. <br /> • Goal 6 $3,000 to support the marketing program including the publication of various <br /> collateral materials such as community profile, business resource guide and folder to present <br /> these materials. Also included is funds for the participation in professional development <br /> conferences and networking opportunities to promote Mounds View within the Metro area. <br /> The total budget of$16,450 is conservative and includes considerable amount of in-house <br /> production work. <br />
