During the eight year period that I have been Executive Director of the <br /> organization, NMMA has not taken an official position with respect to this issue. In fact, to <br /> my recollection the Association hasn't even been requested to do so. <br /> If the subject should arise in the future, the organization would immediately involve the <br /> affected communities to determine their collective position(s). If a unified position cannot be <br /> achieved, the Association would withdraw from taking a position in support or opposition. <br /> One advantage of being a member of NMMA will be to become an active participant in <br /> finding solutions to problems affecting our communities. This includes an opportunity to <br /> voice differing opinions which can help shape organizational policy and decisions. For <br /> instance, the City of Oak Grove voiced a concern with one of the Association's 1994 <br /> legislative objectives. They stated their objection at one of the Board meetings. The Board, <br /> in turn, directed the Operating Committee to reconsider the issue. The legislative objective <br /> was deleted from the Association's 1994 Legislative Agenda. <br /> The Association looks forward to the City of Mounds View joining the organization. Your <br /> full participation will benefit all communities in the North Metro area. <br /> Lastly, your membership dues would be pro-rated for the remainder of 1994.
